Leicestershire County
Cricket Club is pleased to announce the signing of all-rounder Joey Evison from
Kent Cricket on a short-term loan deal.
The 24-year-old will be
available for the Foxes’ next two Rothesay County Championship fixtures,
against Essex this weekend and Yorkshire next week, strengthening the squad
with his all-round capabilities as Leicestershire continue their Division One
campaign.
Evison is no stranger to
Leicestershire supporters, having previously spent six weeks on loan at the
Club in 2022 during his time with Nottinghamshire. Four years on, he returns to
Uptonsteel Grace Road as a more experienced cricketer, having established
himself as a regular performer in Kent’s red-ball side.
The Peterborough-born
all-rounder has amassed 2,496 runs in 55 first-class matches at an average of
30.81, including one century and 15 half-centuries, with a highest score of
109*. With the ball, Evison has taken 89 first-class wickets, including best
figures of 5/21 and match figures of 6/114.
Evison has enjoyed a
productive County Championship campaign so far in 2026, scoring a season-best
88 against Derbyshire and claiming nine wickets for Kent. His ability to
contribute in both disciplines makes him a valuable addition for the upcoming
Championship fixtures.
Director of Cricket
Claude Henderson welcomed the move:
"We're delighted to
bring Joey back to Leicestershire. He's a player we know well from his previous
spell with us and he's developed significantly since then."
"His all-round
qualities give us great flexibility and balance. He has been performing well
for Kent this season, contributing important runs and wickets, and we feel
he'll be a strong addition to the group for the next two Championship matches."
Speaking on his return to
the Foxes, Joey Evison said:
"I'm really pleased
to be joining Leicestershire again. I enjoyed my time here when I was on loan
in 2022 and I've got good memories of the Club."
"It's a great
opportunity to get some Championship cricket under my belt and help the team
over the next couple of games. I'm looking forward to meeting up with the squad
and getting started."
Evison will link up with the
squad immediately and be available for selection for the Foxes' next two
Rothesay County Championship fixtures and will wear the number 33.
Everyone at Leicestershire
County Cricket Club would like to welcome Joey back to the Foxes and thank Kent
Cricket for their assistance in completing the loan agreement.
