Hamza Shaikh Signs Three-Year Deal With Leicestershire

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of highly rated top-order batter Hamza Shaikh on a three-year contract, commencing in November 2026.

As part of the agreement, the 20-year-old will join the Foxes immediately on loan from Warwickshire County Cricket Club for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Shaikh will be available for Leicestershire's entire Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign, as well as the remaining Rothesay County Championship fixtures.

One of the country's most exciting young batting prospects, Shaikh signed his first professional contract with Warwickshire at just 16 years of age before progressing through the Club's pathway into the senior side.

Earlier this month, he made his Vitality T20 Blast debut against Northamptonshire, marking another milestone in his rapid development.

On the international stage, Shaikh represented England at the 2024 ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup before later captaining the England Under-19 side during the summer of 2024. Among his standout performances was a superb century against Sri Lanka Under-19s, underlining his credentials as one of England's brightest young batters.

"To secure a player of Hamza's quality on a long-term contract is a significant signing for the Club. We're also pleased to welcome him immediately on loan, where he can contribute across the remainder of this season before officially joining us permanently in November."

Shaikh is looking forward to the opportunity to begin his Leicestershire journey immediately.
