Leicester Symphony Orchestra Brings Proms on the Pitch to Uptonsteel Grace Road

Uptonsteel Grace Road, with its rich history spanning nearly 150 years, is poised to host its inaugural event this autumn. On Saturday, September 5th, the Leicester Symphony Orchestra will present "Proms on the Pitch," promising a delightful experience for attendees.
The event will feature engaging entertainment for children, including circus performers such as stilt walkers and jugglers, as well as a captivating bubble show. Additionally, there will be complimentary workshops for kids to learn juggling and explore other enjoyable activities. The centerpiece of the event will be the Leicester Symphony Orchestra, which will showcase approximately 60 talented musicians performing beloved classics, including "Jerusalem," selections from "The Lord of the Rings," "Pirates of the Caribbean," and "Sweet Caroline."
Under the baton of the esteemed conductor Dexter Drown, known for his passionate and expressive performances, the orchestra aims to create a memorable experience.
Drown noted, "Grace Road is steeped in history, and the LSO will have the privilege of writing a new chapter." Joining the orchestra will be the accomplished vocal artist Hannah Fraser-Mackenzie, who regularly performs as a soloist with the Orchestra of St John's and the Armonico Consort, and has an impressive catalog of recorded works. "We have already begun our rehearsals, and I can assure you that the musicians are exceptionally talented. If you choose to purchase a ticket, I am confident you will enjoy every moment," Drown remarked.
Emma White, Chief Executive of Leicestershire County Cricket Club, shared her enthusiasm for the event, stating, "I am genuinely thrilled that this is coming to fruition. It presents a wonderful opportunity for the club to broaden its engagement with the community beyond cricket." "The talent of the LSO is remarkable; after experiencing their music, I was determined to bring 'Proms on the Pitch' to life," she continued. "Leicestershire CCC is committed to fostering events in Leicester, and the LSO aligns perfectly with our vision." Gates for "Proms on the Pitch" will open at 1 PM, and the Leicester Symphony Orchestra will take the stage at 3 PM.
