Leicestershire Foxes Sign Sheridon Gumbs on One-Month Contract

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is pleased to announce the signing of batter Sheridon Gumbs on a one-month contract.

The 22-year-old has earned his opportunity after a series of impressive performances for the Foxes Second XI since joining the Club at the beginning of the 2025 season.

Gumbs has consistently been among the runs for the Second XI and has carried that form into 2026. Earlier this week, he struck an unbeaten 79 from 56 balls against Nottinghamshire, having also scored a century against the same opposition whilst representing Loughborough UCCE during pre-season.

One of his standout innings of the season came against Lancashire Second XI, where he produced a superb 132, further underlining his credentials as one of the most exciting young batters in the county game.

Prior to joining Leicestershire, Gumbs made four List A appearances for Surrey, registering a highest score of 66.

Director of Cricket Claude Henderson said:

"Sheridon has worked extremely hard since arriving at the Club and has thoroughly earned this opportunity. His performances for the Second XI have been consistently impressive and he has shown he can score runs against strong opposition in a variety of situations.”

Upon signing his contract, Gumbs said:

"I'm delighted to sign my first contract with Leicestershire. Since arriving at the Club, I've really enjoyed being part of the environment - working with coaches and rubbing shoulders with quality players

I've felt my game has developed a lot over the past 18 months, and I'm grateful for the opportunity the Club has given me. I'm looking forward to continuing to work hard and taking any opportunities that come my way, as a Fox.
