Another week, another four days spent keeping an eye on the weather apps. After a rain-affected draw away in Yorkshire, the Foxes are back on the road as they make the short trip to Trent Bridge to take on Division Two leaders Nottinghamshire.
A reminder that with us being in the month of September, we get underway at 10:30am rather than 11am.
It's the first of two visits to Nottingham this month, with Leicestershire set to return to Trent Bridge on 20 September for the Metro Bank One Day Cup Final against Middlesex. While that showpiece occasion is on the horizon, the focus remains on picking up valuable Championship points in the closing weeks of the season.
In the red-ball format, the Foxes currently sit ninth in the table. They briefly moved out of the bottom two while waiting for the result of Essex's match against Surrey, but a fighting century from Ben Foakes helped Surrey secure a draw and left Leicestershire back in ninth place.
The run-in doesn't get any easier either. Three of the Foxes' final four Championship fixtures are against teams currently occupying the top three spots in the division, starting with this week's tough test against runaway leaders Nottinghamshire.
With the Championship season approaching its conclusion and a cup final just around the corner, September looks set to be a huge month for Leicestershire.
SQUAD:
Ben Cox and Stephen Eskinazi return to the squad this week after recovering from the injuries they sustained during Leicestershire's One Day Cup semi-final victory over Nottinghamshire back in August.
Sol Budinger continues his recovery and is currently on Second XI duty as he looks to build valuable time in the middle and regain match fitness. Lewis Hill and Liam Trevaskis are also featuring for the Second XI this week.
Meanwhile, Ben Green continues to make positive progress in his rehabilitation from a quad injury. The all-rounder remains unavailable for selection but is working hard behind the scenes and edging closer to a return to action.
