Sam Wood to leave Leicestershire

Leicestershire County Cricket Club can confirm that Sam Wood will leave the Club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of this month.
Wood’s departure brings to an end a 13-year association with Leicestershire, having first joined the Club at the age of nine and progressed through the pathway.
Reflecting on his time with the Foxes, Wood said:
“Leicestershire has been home for as long as I can remember, and I’ll always be grateful for the people, memories and opportunities that have shaped me both as a cricketer and as a person.
“It’s never easy leaving your home club, but I’m incredibly excited for the next chapter. Thank you for everything.”
Director of Cricket Claude Henderson added:
“Sam has been part of Leicestershire for a huge portion of his life, having come through our pathway from such a young age, so naturally this is a difficult goodbye.
“He has represented the Club with great pride throughout his time here and has always been a popular and well-respected member of the group.
“As Sam moves on to the next chapter of his career, we want to thank him for everything he has given to Leicestershire over the last 13 years and wish him every success for the future. He will always be welcome back at Grace Road.”
