Stephen Eskinazi Named Metro Bank One Day Cup Captain

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is pleased to announce that Stephen Eskinazi will captain the Foxes during the 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The experienced top-order batter takes on the role ahead of this season's 50-over competition, bringing a wealth of leadership experience and an outstanding List A record.

Eskinazi first joined the Foxes on loan during the Club's Division Two title-winning run in 2025, quickly establishing himself as an important member of the squad before completing a permanent move to Leicestershire ahead of the 2026 season.

A proven performer in one-day cricket, the 32-year-old has amassed an impressive List A average of 55.15, scoring six centuries and three half-centuries in just 29 innings. His consistency at the top of the order has made him one of the standout performers in the domestic 50-over game.

Leadership is nothing new to Eskinazi, who captained Middlesex's T20 side for three-and-a-half years before making the move to Uptonsteel Grace Road. His experience both on and off the field will provide a strong foundation for the Foxes squad heading into this year's Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Having played a key role in the Club's successful promotion campaign last season, Eskinazi will now lead Leicestershire into the 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup as the Foxes look to build on the momentum generated over the past 12 months.
